The disastrous judiciary, Chief Justice Kim, must reveal a clear position

The criticism of Supreme Court Chief Kim Myung-soo is strong. He rejected the resignation of Deputy Chief Justice Seong-geun Lim and made a remark in consideration of impeachment and demanded voluntary resignation, saying that the power of the people was “a politician wearing only the law suits.” Deputy Judge Lim’s motives (17th term) at the Judicial Research and Training Institute called for resignation, saying, “Let’s not protect the judges, but throw them away to get caught up in the whirlwind of impeachment.” How it responds to this offensive will change the position of the judiciary. Chief Justice Kim should restore the trust of the people and judges by looking back on his duties as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and making a clear stance on the recent situation.

The fact that Chief Justice Kim noticed the politics in relation to the impeachment was not a structural issue of the judiciary, but rather a personal issue of the Chief Justice. The trial itself cannot be a basis for a passport bias or that the impeachment of a Judge Nongdan judge is unfair. On the 4th, Judge Jung Wook-do, Deputy Chief Justice of Daegu District Court, criticized the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, but defended against rejecting the resignation, saying, “It is clear that we need to receive a constitutional judgment.”

In order to persuade the people and dictate the judges, Chief Justice Kim hopes to reveal a clear position. First of all, you must humbly reflect on your mistakes. Please resolve any doubts about whether there was political influence in the impeachment or trial. We must apologize again for false explanations. Second, as the head of the judiciary, an apology must be expressed for the impeachment of the first judge in the history of the constitution. It is necessary to point out the error of intervening in the court and reveal the will to defend the constitution. Third, it must be admitted that behind the belated impeachment there was a midnight failure by the judiciary. In December 2018, the Supreme Court punished eight judges involved in the judicial nongdan (up to six months of suspension) with a cotton bat, and virtually laid hands on 66 persons who were notified of misconduct from the prosecution. Judge Lim did not receive disciplinary action due to the expiration of the disciplinary prescription for intervention in the trial, and was reprimanded in a separate case.

The real problem is that after the inauguration of Supreme Court Chief Kim, the task of identifying the reality of the judicial farming group, disciplining the person in charge, reforming the law and restoring trust, etc., has been sealed with eclecticism. Now Supreme Court Chief Kim has no place to back down.
