On the 23rd, local media reported that a grand party was held at a resort run by the son of Supreme Commander Min Aung Hlaing, who led the coup, as the Myanmar military’s military suppression continued.

Local media Myanmar Now said, “On the 20th, an event was held to commemorate the resumption of tourism at a luxury resort located in Chaungta, Eiyarwadi Province, Myanmar. I did.”

Minister Maung met with local tourism industry officials on the day and said, “You are a small diplomat. I hope that you will contribute to the development of the country by earning foreign currency through the tourism industry in the event of Corona 19.”

Myanmar Now analyzes that the reason the Minister held such an event in the chaotic Jungkook of the military and police’s violent suppression of protesters is because the resort is run by Aung Pi Son, 36, son of Supreme Commander Hlaing. Myanmar’s state-run journalist Dummyler Daily also reported the news on all three pages of the newspaper.

Commander Hlaing’s son and daughter own a large resort, as well as a construction company, a trading company, and a media producer. Local media pointed out that they are receiving various privileges, such as obtaining land lease rights without competing bidding, and renting near free of charge. Earlier, on the 10th, the US Treasury Department put six businesses run by the children of Commander Hlaing subject to sanctions.

A total of 261 people have died from the 1st of last month to the present, according to the civil society Myanmar Political Offender Support Association (AAPP). However, considering the missing persons, the actual number of deaths is estimated to be much higher.
