With 133 confirmed cases related to IEM International School, the cumulative Corona 19 confirmed in Daejeon has exceeded 1,000. The quarantine authorities are worried about the spread of group infection from IEM International School in Daejeon, an unauthorized facility.
According to the city of Daejeon on the 26th, two students of the Daejeon IEM International School (hereinafter referred to as the International School) located in Jung-gu, Daejeon (No. 234 in Suncheon, No. 389 in Pohang) were tested positive for Corona 19 on the 24th.
As a result of a full-scale examination of 158 people in international schools, 131 students, faculty members, and children were confirmed one after another, resulting in 133 cumulative confirmed cases.
In addition, there are several confirmed cases in related groups, including 39 trainees at Daejeon MTS (Youth Life School) who went to a church in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do on the 16th after living here for the past 4-15 days.
The city and the quarantine authorities are conducting COVID-19 testing on 125 students, including 12 students, 75 church members, and 38 member families at the Daejeon CAS Christian after-school school operated by IM Mission.
The church, which runs the CAS Christian after-school school in the same building, is reportedly claiming that it has no connection with the Daejeon IEM International School.
However, the quarantine authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations, as some church officials believe this is related.
Jeong Hae-gyo, head of the Daejeon City Health and Welfare Bureau, said, “Even though there are many schools operated by IM Missions, and there is no direct connection nationwide, it is the government’s policy that a full inspection of facility workers, etc. is required to prevent the spread in the region.
The city said that even if students lived at IEM International School, there were frequent access to nearby convenience stores and pharmacies, and the city has secured and analyzed CCTV from the 25th.

Health and Welfare Bureau chief Jung said, “We will take measures such as finding the first source of infection related to international schools and conducting full tests to prevent the spread in the region as much as possible.”
On the other hand, on the 25th, it was recorded that there were 125 confirmed cases a day, the highest number since the first confirmed case in Daejeon on February 21 of last year.
Starting with the occurrence of confirmed cases related to Shincheonji at the end of February of last year, in Daejeon, the number of confirmed persons related to door-to-door sales in Tanbang-dong and virtual currency came out. Although confirmed cases related to the National Liberation Day rally, family gatherings such as beolcho after Chuseok, and Yuseong Restaurant at the end of last December came out constantly, it is the first time that more than 100 confirmed cases have occurred in one day.
