Controversy has arisen in Australia as a woman is denied boarding an aircraft because of unregulated dress.

According to the British Daily Mail on the 14th (local time), Catherine Bampton, 23, was waiting for a Virgin Australia airliner to go to Gold Coast from Adelaide Airport in southern Australia the day before.

As a college student, he wore a halterneck (a top with arms and back exposed and a strap tied behind the neck) and high waist pants and sneakers.

But an airline employee on the ground approached him and told him he was too exposed to get on the airliner, Bampton claimed.

“It was embarrassing and offensive,” he said. “In front of others watching, the airline staff informed me that the captain was against me getting on board because of my clothes.”

Bampton thought his costume was inappropriate, and asked the staff to explain what was inappropriate.

The staff replied, “The captain doesn’t like the revealing clothes,” he said, and asked to wear outerwear if he had one.

It is known that the passengers who watched this series of events were greatly surprised with their eyes wide open and their mouths open.

Bampton demanded an apology from Virgin Australia, saying he hoped that a victim like him would not come out again.

“We haven’t received any official complaints from the passengers yet,” Virgin Australia said. “We will preemptively figure out what has happened. We will remind the staff of our dress code.”

Virgin Australia said its clothing regulations were similar to those of other airlines. “Most passengers on our airline met the regulations.”

According to the clothing regulations released by Virgin Australia on its website, it states that shoes must be worn first, pants must be adequate to cover the lower body, and a top (including a running shirt) must be worn.

Tops do not have a clear regulation on the degree of body exposure.
