It’s uncomfortable to travel abroad by taking an international flight, but is there a way to buy cheap even on a domestic flight? As a result of analyzing domestic flight tickets for the last three months by airline ticket price comparison site’Kayak’, it was found that the schedule between Gimpo and Jeju departed on Tuesday and returned on Thursday was the cheapest.

Kayak said, “Last year, the entire travel market contracted due to Corona 19, but the domestic flight search volume increased by 11% from 2019.” As a result of analyzing three months’ worth of data from November 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021, the most searched domestic flight (one-way basis) was by far the Gimpo-Jeju route. Following that, there were many searches in the order of Busan-Jeju, Daegu-Jeju, Busan-Gimpo, and Jeju-Gimpo.

If you are planning a trip to Jeju Island, Kayak recommended the schedule of’Tuesday to Thursday arrival’. As a result of analyzing each route between Gimpo and Jeju, it was found that flights from Gimpo to Jeju were the cheapest on Monday and Tuesday, the beginning of the week, and the cheapest flight from Jeju to Gimpo was on Thursday. The most avoidable schedules are Friday departures and Sunday arrivals. This is because there are many people who visit Jeju Island after taking a day off on Friday and a weekend.

It has also been confirmed that accommodation in Jeju Island is generally cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. When I searched for Lotte Hotel Jeju and Haevichi Hotel on the Interpark Tour, it was 20-30% cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays than on Saturdays, where accommodation is the most expensive. However, hotels are more diverse than airlines, and prices vary widely according to reservation channels such as online travel agencies and hotel websites, so more searches are needed. In some hotels, weekends are cheaper than weekdays.

Meanwhile, the Gimpo-Jeju route is known as the busiest route among domestic airline routes in the world. According to data from aviation data analysis company OAG in 2020, the route between Gimpo and Jeju in 2019 operated 17 million round-trip seats, significantly ahead of the second-ranked Sapporo-Tokyo (Haneda) route (12 million seats). Eight airlines operated an average of 48,000 seats per day. According to statistics from Korea Airports Corporation, in 2020, there were 12.48 million passengers on the Gimpo-Jeju route. It decreased by about 27% from 17.10 million in 2019.
