The burning monk “I was sad”… 4th arson, visceral death and only bones left [영상]

“The monks tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers, but it spread quickly.” At 9 pm on the 5th, Daewoongjeon, a temple in Naejangsa, Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, disappeared from its grandeur and smoked soaring with only the skeleton. The monks staying here only looked at the firefighters’ work to clean up the remaining lights with an anxious glance.

The Jeonbuk Jeongeup Police Station is arresting and investigating monk A, 53, on charges of setting fire to Daeungjeon at 6:30 pm on the same day. According to the police, Mr. A set fire to Daeungjeon using inflammable substances such as gasoline.

The monks at Naejangsa Temple tried to extinguish themselves when they saw the red light over Daeungjeon Hall, but the flames spread out of control. A monk in Naejangsa said, “The monks who first witnessed the fire tried hard to put out the fire with their own fire extinguishers, but the fire was not caught.” “When the other monks learned of the fire, the fire had already spread to the entire Daeungjeon Hall.” said.

The Jeonbuk Fire Department received a report that there was a fire at Naejangsa at 6:37 pm that day, and started extinguishing work at the fire site at 6:57 pm. Since Naejangsa Temple is located in a deep mountain, it took about 20 minutes to travel. Initial evolution was completed at 7:53 pm, but Daewoongjeon was burned down. The fire was completely extinguished at 9:10 pm.

As a result of the police investigation, Mr. A was confirmed to be a monk who visited Naejangsa about three months ago. Mr. A also admitted to arson charges. Mr. A is telling the police with the intention that “while staying at Naejangsa, I had a conflict with some monks, and feelings of regret accumulated so much that I drank alcohol and set fire to fire.”

After committing arson, Mr. A stayed near Daeungjeon without leaving the crime scene and was caught by the police. It is said that the monks of Naejangsa also saw the fire and learned about the arson after seeing Mr. A, who was arrested as a current criminal while extinguishing the fire.

A police official said, “Mr. A has set a fire on Daeungjeon and reported it to the police,” he said. “If the wooden building fails to extinguish the initial fire within 5 minutes, the scale of the fire inevitably increased and the damage was great.” said.

Naejangsa Temple was built in 636, in the 37th year of King Mu of Baekje, in 636, and was founded as Yeongeunsa Temple, and in 1557 it was renamed Naejangsa Temple. At that time, the temple was burned down and rebuilt, and in 1951, at the beginning of the Korean War, it was again swamped with fire and turned to ashes. Even in October 2012, an unknown fire broke out and burned down.

Jeongeup City restored the building with a budget of 2.5 billion won on the old site of Daeungjeon Hall, which was destroyed in a fire in 2012, but suffered a tragedy of burning it down again in the fourth arson.
