The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), which faced the biggest crisis since its inception, apologized to the public due to suspicion of pre-speculation by employees in the 3rd new city. It also introduced measures to prevent recurrence, such as the introduction of a land transaction prior notification system for all employees and their families.

On the morning of the 4th, LH held an emergency countermeasure committee presided over by President Choong-mo Jang, and apologized to the public for allegations of speculation on land in Siheung district of Gwangmyeong. LH said, “We take full responsibility for the failure of employees to keep their duty as public officials,” and said, “If any violations are identified, we will take strict measures in accordance with the laws and regulations.”

It also announced measures to prevent recurrence. First, it was decided to introduce a land transaction advance notification system for all LH employees and their families. In addition, when pursuing a new project, it was decided to conduct a thorough investigation of the land ownership by employees and families of related departments. If unreported or illegal or unfair land transactions are confirmed as a result of the investigation, a disadvantage is imposed on personnel matters. The day before, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport prohibited employees of the Ministry of Land, Construction, and local public corporations who are involved in the development of new housing sites in principle from land transactions that are not for the purpose of residence.

LH also clarified the issue of the’land auction 1st hit instructor’ concurrent job of its employees who recently climbed to the cutting board. According to LH, Mr. Oh, in his 40s, belonging to the Uijeongbu Project Group at the Seoul Regional Headquarters, is being audited after being caught giving a lecture on land auction through an online real estate investment lecture site. An official from LH said, “We will check the final facts this week.”

CEO Jang Choong-mo said, “We will promptly implement measures to prevent recurrence so that the public will not be disappointed with such suspicions again,” and “I will be reborn as a trusted LH by implementing a stable housing security policy.”
