AstraZeneca’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccination, which is consigned in Korea, will start on the 26th. Pfizer’s Corona 19 vaccine, which will be received from the global vaccine co-purchasing organization’Cobox Facility’, has not yet been confirmed.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, “On the 24th, AstraZeneca vaccine was shipped from SK Bioscience’s factory in Andong, Gyeongbuk, and then the vaccine was delivered to the inoculation agency from the 25th, and vaccinations will begin sequentially from the 26th.”

To this end, the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team is collecting a list of residents and workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities targeted for AstraZeneca vaccination. After receiving a list of residents from the National Health Insurance Service, each hospital/facility checks it and approves it by the competent public health center. In this way, the list will be confirmed by the 19th, and based on this, the quantity of vaccines required for each hospital and facility will be distributed.

The promotion team maintains the policy of first inoculating nursing hospitals and facilities to reduce the fatality rate. The Agency for Disease Control and Prevention also announced that there has been no change in the 1Q vaccination plan, which will first inoculate medical staff and nursing hospitals and facilities treating Corona 19 patients. According to the existing plan, AstraZeneca at nursing hospitals and facilities, and Corona 19 medical staff will be vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine.

However, if the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety restricts vaccination of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the elderly over the age of 65, the order of some vaccinations may change. An official from the promotion team said in a phone call with the Hankook Ilbo on the 7th, “Even if some patients (65 years old or older) are not fit, the facility itself should be protected.” We are preparing to inoculate children under the age of 64 first.”

The promotion team plans to deliver the vaccine directly to the nursing hospital where the medical staff are working so that the vaccination can be done in the hospital. Regarding nursing facilities without medical staff, “the vaccine will be supplied to the local public health center and an external vaccination visit team will visit with the vaccine,” an official of the promotion team explained.

In contrast, the Pfizer vaccine is administered at an inoculation center. The National Medical Center’s Central Vaccination Center, which will start the first vaccination for medical staff treating patients with Corona 19, has started a simulation training for Pfizer vaccination from the 9th. The promotion team is checking the list of medical staff who are eligible for Pfizer vaccination.
