‘The 6th Day of Protection of the West Sea’ visited Daejeon Prefectural Center on the 26th

On the 26th, the 6th day of the West Sea Protection, at 10 am, the graveyard of the 46th soldier of Cheonan at the National Daejeon Prefectural Center. “I decided to become a soldier in order to inherit the noble will of my father who gave his life for the country,” said Haena, 20, the eldest daughter of the late Kim Tae-seok, a former soldier of the Cheonan ship.

Haena entered the Department of Military Security at Woosuk University’s Jincheon Campus this year. The Department of Military Security trains officers in the Army, Navy, and Air Forces. Haena visited the Cheonan graveyard with her mother, Lee Soo-jeong (47), and her family, Han Hoon (43), the supervisor of the Department of Science, and six seniors and fellow students. Haena, wearing the uniforms of the students and the department, expressed his politeness with a big salute. In the afternoon, I attended the West Sea Protection Day event held at the 2nd Fleet Command in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do.

Haena lost her father in the second year of elementary school (9 years old) due to the invasion of the Cheonan ship in North Korea. Born in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do in 1973, Won-sa Kim graduated from Seongnam West High School and was commissioned as a naval corps in 1993. He died a year after working at the Cheonan ship. At that time, Kim Won-sa was 37 years old. Kim Wonsa is an exemplary soldier who did not cause a single equipment accident while working at the Cheonan. Haena is said to have grown up well with her two younger sisters in the care of her mother. The younger brother is a high school 3 and 1 high school student, respectively.

“If security is lost, there is no country”

“After my dad passed away, I lived in sadness for many years,” said Haena. “The moment I became a middle school student, my mind flashed and I thought that I should take over my father’s dream.” Afterwards, Mr. Haena said, “I decided to become a naval officer unconditionally, and I had a dream of going on to an academy or military department at a general university.” “When my dad passed away, I was too young to know what the country was and what security was,” said Haena.

Professor Han Hoon said, “I am very proud of student Haena, the daughter of Kim Tae-seok, who gave her life for the country,” and said, “I like all my fellow students because I have a good school life and always have a bright expression.”

The government designated the fourth Friday of March from 2016 as the’West Sea Protection Day’ in honor of the 55 soldiers who defended the West Sea and to establish peace on the Korean peninsula and strengthen their determination to protect the country. The 55 champions of the West Sea were 46 soldiers killed in the Cheonan and the level of Han Juho, 6 killed in the 2nd Yeonpyeong Sea Battle, and 2 killed in the Yeonpyeong Island artillery battle.

On this day, the Democratic Party, the power of the people, members of the National Assembly, and the heads of local governments visited the National Daejeon Cemetery at the Cheonan Shipyard. In the power of the people, more than 20 people, including Ho-young Joo, attended the event.
