According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters on the 21st, as of 0 o’clock on the day, 416 new cases of Corona 19 were recorded. The cumulative confirmed number was 86,993.
The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 32 from the previous day (448), and remained in the 400 range for the second day.
Looking at the path of infection of new confirmed patients on this day, 391 local outbreaks and 25 foreign inflows. It has only been six days since the last 15 days (322) that the number of confirmed cases of local outbreaks has dropped to 300.
The metropolitan area, including 120 in Seoul, 170 in Gyeonggi, and 21 in Incheon, accounted for 79.5% of the total area occurrence.
However, the decrease in the number of new confirmed cases on this day was also affected by the decrease in the number of tests on weekends. The number of tests performed at the screening clinic the previous day was 2,709, 53% less than the previous day (46,373).
The number of new confirmed cases has slightly decreased from 600 to 400, but there are concerns that sporadic infections occur in various places starting from the Lunar New Year holiday (February 11-14) and the spread of the disease will increase.
In case of major group infections, the number of confirmed cases related to Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital in Yongsan-gu, Seoul increased to 201 cumulatively as of the previous day.
Regarding the plastic factory in Jingwan Industrial Complex in Namyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, a total of 148 people were confirmed, including workers, family members, and acquaintances, and at least 165 people were confirmed related to the cricket boiler factory in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do.
In addition, new infections followed in various places such as kindergartens and daycare centers, trading companies, visiting nursing homes, and restaurants.
The number of deaths from Corona 19 increased by 4 on this day to a total of 1557.
The government is planning to review whether to adjust the level of quarantine countermeasures this week by comprehensively evaluating the domestic group infection situation and the spread of mutant virus.
