Market criticism is pouring out against Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk over Tesla’s decision not to produce the Model S and Model X this year. This is because it is contrary to the aggressive production plan of the two models that Musk announced at the time of its 4Q results announcement.

Elon Musk said, “Our new Model S and Model X will be delivered to customers from February of next year,” at a conference for the performance announcement in November last year. I plan to enter.”

However, Tesla has folded such a plan in just two months and is not currently producing Model S and Model X, CNN and others reported on the 3rd (local time). In the first quarter alone, out of Tesla’s total production of 180,338 units, the Model S and Model X produced 0 units each.

Tesla has not responded to any such reports.

Dan Ives, analyst at Wedbush Securities, said, “It seems that Tesla will stop producing Model S and Model X due to a lack of chips, and instead will use the chips needed to make more vehicles.” Said.

This is a common occurrence in the automobile industry, which is experiencing a shortage of semiconductors in recent years. However, in this case, even in order to secure profitability, production of low-demand cars is usually stopped, but Tesla is receiving a strange response in that it has decided to stop production of popular models, Model S and Model X.

Analyst Dan Ives said, “High-end brands, Model S and Model X, are models that can generate five times more profits than Model 3 and Model Y, respectively.”

The Model S, which Tesla launched in 2012, costs 80,000 dollars (90,32 million won) at the lowest trim price alone. Model X, which has been produced since 2015, also has the lowest price of $102,736 (1,599 million won).
