The new product is divided into three trims in Korea: standard range, long range, and performance. Model Y has a maximum driving distance of 511 km (long range), and the time from stop to 100 km/h is only 3.7 seconds (based on performance). The maximum speed reaches 250 km/h (based on performance).
Model Y can be configured with a 5-seater or 7-seater seat, and the 7-seater will be released later in Korea. The interior is simple and neat. The 15-inch touchscreen can handle all of the car’s functions, while the elevated seats and lower dashboard provide a wider view of the road ahead. The expandable full glass roof also provides a wide open feeling.
Model Y displays can be found at Tesla stores in Cheongdam and Hanam, Tesla Centers in Bundang and Busan, and at Tesla Gallery Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo. The sales price starts at KRW 5999 million for the standard range, KRW 6999 million for the long range, and KRW 7999 million for the performance.
In addition, the 2021 Model 3, which was released together, has a more comfortable interior and increased driving distance through the harmony of the changed interior exterior design and the latest technology. Prices start from standard range plus 54,79 million won, long range 59,99 million won, and performance at 74,79 million won.
The reason why we set the starting price of Model Y and the price of the long-range trim for Model 3, which is the most sold at KRW 59,999, is the industry speculation that the effect of the recent subsidy cap was large.
Last month, the Ministry of Environment announced that in accordance with the guidelines for the ceiling on electric vehicle purchase subsidies, half the subsidy for those exceeding 60 million won and less than 90 million won, and non-subsidy if exceeding 90 million won. Accordingly, Tesla Korea seems to have come into the range of 60 million won or less by lowering the car price to receive the full subsidy.
Meanwhile, Tesla Korea plans to install supercharger stations in 27 locations across the country within this year. In the first half of the year, it is preparing to release the CCS1 charging adapter that can be used at public fast charging stations. In the case of service centers, up to eight locations nationwide including Seongsu, Daegu, Gwangju, and Jeju in the first half of this year are planned to be expanded.
