In relation to the’taxi driver assault case’ by Vice Minister of Justice Lee Yong-gu, a testimony came out to the effect that taxis were in operation until the police were dispatched. Channel A reported as such on the 24th, citing the taxi driver.

According to reports, Vice Minister Lee called the Kakao Taxi on the 6th of last month and boarded the taxi at Yangjae Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul at around 11:18 pm. The taxi went through Gangnam Station and headed to the apartment in Seocho-dong, the destination, and it took about 15 minutes.

The victim taxi driver said about the situation at the time, “The engine and the meter were turned on until the policeman came, and this vice minister was sitting in the back seat as well.” Said.

I remembered the time, “When I said,’This is a big deal. It’s all taken’, and then I got rid of my fat.” The taxi driver insisted that the police arrived at the scene five minutes after the report, and that the Vice Minister Lee also got off, and that the meter was turned off at that time.

The taxi driver also told Channel A that on the 8th of last month, a day before the victims were investigated, they met and agreed with Vice Minister Lee at a cafe in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Lee, who called by Kakao Taxi, first called the number of the remaining driver and asked for a meeting.

The taxi driver said that although he received the settlement money proposed by Vice Minister Lee, it was not because of money, but because of an apology. He also added that at the time of the agreement, he did not know that’driver assault’ would be aggravated under the specific crime weighting law (special price law).

The police officer of Seocho 3 Police Station, who was initially dispatched to the scene, commented that “driver assault should be applied under the Special Privileges Act,” with the intention that Lee assaulted the driver while driving a taxi, but the Seocho Police Department later accused him of “simple assault” under the criminal law. Judged and closed the case.

On the other hand, on the 23rd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office allocated to the 5th Criminal Section of the case where the Solidarity for the Right to the Rule of Law (law sophistication) and the bar exam preparation student group (Sae Jun-mo) accused Lee of violating the Special Law.
