Taiwanese Foreign Minister Wu Jiao-she (Joseph Wu) told reporters on the day that “the US decision-makers who are watching the development of the situation in the region believe that there is a clear possibility that China will launch an attack on Taiwan,” the Taiwanese media reported. “We will protect ourselves without hesitation, and if we have to do war, we will fight against it,” Wu said.

Wu said Taiwan would increase its military strength and spend more money on defense. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced that it will conduct computer-based war games (military training) for eight days this month in preparation for Chinese attacks. In July, we plan to do actual training. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense said, “Military training is designed assuming the most powerful enemy threats and simulates all possible scenarios against enemy invasion.”

As relations between the United States and Taiwan get closer, China poses a military threat and is sending warning messages to the United States and Taiwan. China advocates the’one China’ principle and sees Taiwan as a part of its territory.

John Hennessyland, the U.S. Ambassador to Palau, was accompanied by President Suranggirl Whips’ visit to Taiwan from Palau, a Pacific island nation. Joe Biden is interpreted as a sign that the US government is strengthening support for Taiwan. On this day, China sent 10 military aircraft to Taiwan’s ADIZ and held an armed demonstration.
