Representatives Taek-jin Kim, Han-oh Park, Seong-hwan Jo, and Seong-woo Hwang to the'Engineering Hall of Fame'

Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCsoft, has been selected as a full member of the Korean Academy of Engineering, the Hall of Fame in the engineering field. The National Academy of Engineering announced on the 5th that it has selected 50 full-time members and 89 general members, including CEO Kim and Professor Moon Soo-bok of KAIST Computer Science, as new members in 2021.

CEO Kim, who graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Electronics Engineering, developed the first online game’Lineage’ that uses internet technology. This is the first time in the game industry to become a full member of the Academy of Engineering. Park Han-oh, CEO of Bioneer, who first commercialized PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology that amplifies nucleic acids to detect viruses, and Choi Seung-deok, vice president of POSCO Technology Investment, who oversees the development of secondary batteries of POSCO Group, also joined as new members. The National Academy of Engineering selects full members by evaluating academic achievements, the world’s first technology development, the number of patents, and contribution to manpower training.
