Syrian president and wife Assad confirmed corona… “Good condition”

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19), AFP news agency reported on the 8th (local time).

In a statement, the Syrian President’s Office said, “After experiencing mild symptoms similar to Corona 19, President Assad and First Lady Asma al-Assad were tested for PCR (gene amplification) and were positive.”

The presidential office added that the Assads’ condition is stable and there are no major problems.

Assad has been in power for 21 years after becoming president after his father in 2000.

The Washington Post (WP) explained that Syria has been fighting Corona 19 for the past year with extremely scarce resources, and it is difficult to determine the extent of the actual spread as it is almost impossible to even test.
