Swiss department stores and marts launch bitcoin gift certificates one after another

Switzerland’s largest department store chain Manor and hypermarket chain Valora have launched Bitcoin gift cards. It plans to provide support for the general public to conveniently access cryptocurrency.

On March 9, 2021 (hereafter local time), Cointelegraph cited the Swiss daily newspaper Takes Anzaiger and reported that large retailers such as Mano and Valorra launched Bitcoin gift cards.

Swiss department store Mano currently sells Bitcoin gift cards at 59 branches. The hypermarket, Valorado, will start selling bitcoin gift certificates at kiosks nationwide from April 1.

The Bitcoin gift certificate, launched under the name’Cryptonau’, was launched by Värdex Suisse, a subsidiary of Bitcoin Suisse AG, a cryptocurrency service provider. This is the first gift card with bitcoin, unlike existing bitcoin cards that only offered cryptocurrency transactions.

Cryptonow gift certificates are sold in three prices, ranging from 100 to 500 francs (approximately $107 to $535). Bitcoin gift certificates and gift cards can be cashed in bitcoins through exchanges or ATMs operated by Vürdex.

As department stores and marts sell bitcoin vouchers, it is expected that the general public’s purchase of bitcoin will become easier.
