The suspicion of a land transaction undertaken by the Daegu Police Agency is as follows. Mr. A, Mr. Kim’s wife, said he would do a garden in 2016, and purchased a field (420 square meters) in the Yeonho district, Suseong-gu, Daegu, for 285 million won. At that time, mayor Kim was working as the deputy head of Suseong-gu Office.

After that time, the area of ​​Yeonho District, including the field purchased by Mayor Kim Gu’s wife, was designated as the LH development Yeonho public housing district, and the land price jumped. Afterwards, Mr. A received more than 390 million won at the end of last year and sold the land back to LH, which was in the process of compensating for the land. It means that it has earned a market profit of about 100 million won in about two years.

With this, civic groups and others have raised suspicions of speculation. In a statement on the 12th, the Korean Welfare Citizens Union said, “It was revealed that Kim Dae-gwon, the wife of the head of Suseong-gu, Daegu, bought the farmland in the Yeonho public housing district in Daegu, which is being developed in LH, and saw a market price margin of about 100 million won.” “You have to investigate the transaction quickly,” he insisted.

Regarding this, mayor Kim said, “At the time of purchase, I did not know whether it would be developed as a Yeonho district, and I purchased the land for the purpose of cultivating a garden, but not for speculation,” and said, “I will actively cooperate with the police investigation.”

The city of Daegu formed a separate investigation team of about 40 people last weekend to investigate whether local public officials, construction workers, immediate spouses, and illegal dumpings were conducted. The target area of ​​the survey is virtually all large-scale development project districts in Daegu. It is a lot of 9159 lots in 5 districts including Yeonho district in Suseong-gu and Technopolis industrial complex operated by LH, 4761 lot in 7 districts including Suseong Medical District and Anam New Town managed by Daegu City Corporation.

The scope of the survey is the contents of all land transactions from 5 years before the designation of the project district to the time of land compensation. Gyeongbuk Province also initiated an investigation into whether or not the employees of public corporations under its subsidiaries and public officials related to the development project are speculating. The subjects of the survey were 8 sites including the construction of a new city before the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office, urban development in the Dongcheon district in Gyeongju, and the specialty district in Gyeongsan cosmetics.

In May 2018, Yeonho District was officially established as a public housing district project site (89 million square meters). LH plans to buy the land, build apartments by the end of 2024, and develop detached housing complexes. To this end, the compensation procedure for land and some buildings has been underway for 1,000 landlords since July of last year.
