Supporting 340,000 vehicles for early scrapping of old diesel vehicles, raising the maximum subsidy

[테크월드뉴스=방제일 기자] From February 5th, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Ministry of Environment will expand and reorganize the project to support early scrapping of old diesel vehicles with grade 5 emissions this year.

This year’s early scrapping of old diesel vehicles increased from 300,000 to 340,000 last year, and the upper limit of subsidy per vehicle was raised from 3 million won to 6 million won for old diesel vehicles that are difficult to take measures to reduce emissions.

In addition, additional subsidies are also provided to owners of early scrapped vehicles to purchase used cars of grades 1 to 2 (electric, hydrogen, hybrid cars, gasoline cars, LPG, etc.).

The early scrapping of old diesel vehicles is a project to fundamentally reduce the old diesel vehicles themselves, which are the source of air pollutants such as ultrafine dust.

The Ministry of Materials and Environment and the Ministry of Environment said, “We will do our best to reduce fine dust emitted from automobiles along with support for the vulnerable by smoothly pursuing the improved early scrapping subsidy system.”
