The results of a public opinion poll came out on the 9th that former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who has emerged as the next presidential candidate, has formed a Yanggang composition with Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong in Seoul.

As a result of a survey of 1009 people aged 18 and over living in Seoul on the 7th to 8th by Embrain Public’s request for News 1, Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong showed the highest at 23.0%.

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol was surveyed as 19.3%, second in the margin of error (±3.1% points at 95% confidence level). Lee Nak-yeon, the leader of the Democratic Party, ranked third with 11.6%.

Following Independent Assemblyman Hong Joon-pyo (4.2%), Ahn Cheol-soo, National Assembly Representative, Yoo Seung-min, former National Power Assemblyman (2.6%), Cho Mi-ae, former Justice Minister (2.2%), Oh Se-hoon, former Seoul Mayor (2.0%), Shim Sang-jeong, Justice Party lawmaker, Jeong Se-gyun, state secretary Prime Minister (1.8%) and so on.

Former President Yun was ranked first among those in their 60s or older (29.8%), and received relatively high support from the conservative group (35.8%), the power of the people (48.0%) and the National Assembly (35.7%).

Governor Lee ranked first in all age groups, except for those in their 60s and older, and ranked high in the supporters of the Progressive Group (38.3%) and the Democratic Party (41.6%).

Yoon, former president, has consistently gained high approval ratings in the presidential candidates’ preference survey conducted after his resignation. In a survey by the Korea Institute of Social Opinion (KSOI) released the day before, Yoon ranked first with 32.4%, surpassing Governor Lee Jae-myeong. In the KSOI survey just before (January 22), President Yoon’s approval rating was 14.6%, which rose 17.8 percentage points in six weeks.

The survey was conducted in the form of a phone interview survey (100% wireless phone) through a mobile phone virtual number, and the response rate is 16.7%. For more information, please refer to the website of the Central Election Survey and Deliberation Committee.
