Heavy snowfall on Japanese expressways caused a collision among 130 cars, killing one and injuring 10.

According to the BBC on the 20th, the Japanese authorities said that 200 people were rescued from the accident site after the accident occurred around noon the previous day on the Tohoku Expressway in Miyagi Prefecture in northern Japan.

Japanese authorities limit road speed to 50 km/h in order to secure visibility, but the Meteorological Agency knows that a strong wind of up to 100 km/h was blown at the time of the accident.

Japan has suffered severe snow damage from heavy snowfall in recent weeks. In some regions, snowfall amounts to twice the forecast average. Last month, a heavy snowfall caused more than 1,000 vehicles to be trapped on the Kanets Expressway for two days.

Due to this heavy snowfall, trains in the Tohoku region are canceled, affecting the high-speed rail network in Japan. Meteorological authorities predicted that up to 40 centimeters of snow would fall more during the day. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga called an emergency meeting and called for attention to the people.
