World-renowned singer Stevie Wonder (70), famous for his pop songs’Isn’t She Lovely’ and’Lately’, announced plans to move to Ghana, Africa.

According to CNN broadcast on the 22nd (local time), Stevie Wonder in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, commenting on the current political chaos, including racism in the United States, said, “I want to see the United States laugh before I leave for Ghana.”

When Oprah Winfrey asked, “Do you mean you’re immigrating to Ghana forever,” Stevie Wonder responded “yes” and said, “I don’t want to see my kids say,’Please respect me, I’m important.'” It is interpreted as a means to immigrate to avoid social problems that are shaking the United States, such as racial discrimination that has recently triggered the’Black Matters Lives’ movement.

This is not the first time he has announced plans to move to Ghana. In 1994, he said about Ghana that “I feel a lot more belonging than the United States.”
