(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwon Hee-won = Ssangyong Motor is preparing to enter short-term court management (P plan)[003620]Last month, in the aftermath of the factory shutdown, sales of less than 3,000 units were reported.

Ssangyong Motors announced on the 2nd that it sold a total of 2,789 units last month, down 60.9% from the same period last year.

Ssangyong Motor’s domestic sales last month decreased by 47.6% compared to the same month last year to 2,673 units, and exports decreased by 94.3% to 116 units.

This is only 38% of the 7,300 units sold in February (5,000 units in domestic and 2,300 units exported).

Ssangyong Motors explained that sales declined as the factory was operated only three days out of 17 days last month due to the refusal of supply by some large companies and foreign parts suppliers.

Earlier, Ssangyong Motor stopped production on the 3rd to 5th and 8th to 10th of last month, and restarted the factory after the Lunar New Year holiday, but it stopped operating again from the 17th to the 26th, which is just one day.

However, as partners resumed supplying parts from March, Ssangyong Motor is currently operating the plant.

Ssangyong Motors emphasized that it is doing its best to negotiate with new investors in order to relieve the anxiety of its partners and operate the factory normally.

Ssangyong Motor said, “We plan to resolve the accumulated domestic demand and export undelivered volume through normal operation.”
