The Forest Service said that the fire that occurred at Nochusan, Gujeol-ri, Yeoryang-myeon, Jeongseon-gun at around 3:50 pm the previous day, was extinguished overnight, and the fire extinguishing was completed at 9:40 am on the 21st. The forest authorities mobilized 14 forest fire extinguishing helicopters, including two super-large helicopters from the Forest Service, from 7 am to catch the main fire. The Forest Service estimates that 12㏊ (120,000 square meters) of national forests were burned with this fire. Damage area can be increased through further investigation.

When the fire broke out, 421 people, including the Forest Service helicopter, aerial and special extinguishing teams, civil servants, firefighters, and the police, and 28 equipment such as fire fighting vehicles were put into the fire. However, the fire site was a steep slope where manpower was almost impossible to put in, and a strong wind of 6.2m per second had difficulty in extinguishing it.

As the sun went down, the extinguishing helicopter was withdrawn, and ground personnel and equipment were used to create a diffusion barrier and converted to a night extinguishing system. Air fighters and others tried to build fire lines by digging the ground as deep as possible with fire rakes or scraping off by-products. It was confirmed that there was no damage to humans as the wind turned toward the forest.

The forest authorities will assume that the fire has started in the farmland near the private house and will investigate the exact cause of the fire as soon as it is extinguished.
