(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi In-young = Jordan Spice (USA) took the lead on the third day of the US Professional Golf (PGA) Tour Valero Texas Open (total prize money of $7.7 million) and took a chance to win.

Spies hit a 5 under par 67 in the 3rd round of the tournament held at the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course (par 72, 7,494 yards) in San Antonio, Texas on the 4th (Korean time).

With a mid-total 12-under par 204, Spies took the lead alongside Matt Wallace (England).

Spice, who had fallen into sluggish after winning the Open in July 2017, inspired to rise to the top again in about three years and nine months in his hometown of Texas.

Spice was on the rise this year, with a tie for fourth at the Phoenix Open in February, a tie for third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and a tie for fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.

Spies started the third round with a tie for second place in the lead and two strokes.

Spice, who had been faltering from the 4th hole (par 4) bogie, made up for the first buddy on the 9th hole (par 4) and started the chase.

Spice, who added a birdie on the 12th hole in the second half (par 4), took the lead in four holes excluding the 16th hole (par 3) out of the five holes 14-18. In the 17th hole (par 4), he succeeded in a birdie even though he dropped a tee shot on the cart road.

Wallace also cut five strokes on the same day and climbed to the top and competed with Spies for the championship.

Charlie Hoffman (USA) is in third place alone (middle total of 10 under par 206). Hoffman reduced seven strokes and raised the ranks 11 places from the previous day.

Cameron Trungali (USA), who was the sole leader until the day before, lost one stroke with three birdies and four bogies, and went down to fourth place (8 under par 208 in total).

Triingali, shaking with a continuous bogie on the 11th to 13th holes, allowed a reversal.

Lee Kyung-hoon (30) hit 2 under par 70 on this day and tied for 21st with 3 under par 213 in the middle.

Lee Kyung-hoon wrote a double bogie on the 1st hole (par 4), but rebounded by catching a birdie in the 5th and 6th holes (above par 4) and the 8th hole (par 5). In the second half, he recorded a birdie on the 14th hole (par 5) and the 17th hole (par 4) after watching the 10th hole (par 4).

Kang Seong-hoon (34) and Kim Si-woo (26) took a joint 26th place (2 under par, 214 strokes). Kang Sung-hoon was expected to be in second place in the first round, but he was unable to gain strength with a 4 over par in the 2nd round and an even par in the 3rd round.

Choi Gyeong-ju (51) tied 5 birdies and 2 bogies, hitting 3 under par 69 and jumped from a tie of 61 to 39 (1 under par 215).

Roh Seung-yeol (30) lost 2 strokes and went down 32 places from the previous day with 217 strokes over 1 in the middle, and 55th in a tie.
