According to the government on the 14th, a joint government investigation group centered on the Prime Minister’s Office started a second investigation on the allegations of real estate speculation related to the third new town from this day. Following the first survey conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Housing and Land Corporation (LH) of 14,000 people, the second survey will be conducted on the local government’s new city-related business managers and employees of related local public companies.
An official from the government said, “The survey targets were employees in charge of business in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon Metropolitan City and the third new city-related business of the eight districts that were the first target of the first survey.” The eight districts are △ Namyangju Wangsuk △ Hanamgyosan △ Incheon Gyeyang △ Goyang Changreung △ Bucheon Daejang △ Gwangmyeong Siheung △ Gwacheon Gwacheon △ Ansan Mayor. Initially, the joint group predicted that the number of subjects for the second round of investigation was about 9,000, but it said that the number of subjects could be increased by grasping the work relevance.
A government official said, “The scale determined by discussing the scope of the investigation with local governments is that all public officials in the case of Gwangmyeong and Siheung with local governments, and employees who were in charge of urban development in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. The target period for the survey is five years before the announcement of the candidate site (resident public announcement). In the case of three places, including Hanam Gyosan, where the candidate site was announced the fastest, transactions after December 2013, five years ago from December 2018, are subject to investigation, and Gwangmyeong Siheung, which announced the candidate site in February, is subject to investigation from February 2016. The government said that the second investigation will also be announced as soon as possible, but it is difficult to specify the timing of the announcement. A government official said, “The government investigation method is a method of collating using the system of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
