Korea South-East Power (President Hyang-Yeol Yu) announced on the 22nd that it has signed a’business agreement to promote eco-friendly fuel conversion greenhouse gas reduction projects for small and medium-sized businesses’ with Ocean Energy (President Kim Hyung-soon), a city gas supplier.

With this agreement, the two companies have established a cooperation system to support eco-friendly fuel conversion for small and medium-sized businesses located in 9 cities and counties in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. Cooperate together to contribute.

This project targets SMEs that use bunker seed oil and diesel, which are fuels that emit relatively large amounts of greenhouse gases. By supporting LNG fuel conversion, registration of greenhouse gas reduction projects, and issuance of emission permits, Southeast Power has secured stable emission credits, expanded new LNG suppliers for marine energy, and SMEs reduced fuel costs and created additional revenue through emission permit sales. It is expected to reap the effect of Joe.

In particular, Southeast Power Co., Ltd. provides support to receive loans at a low interest rate, equivalent to the cost of replacing fuel conversion facilities for SMEs through a shared growth cooperation loan jointly operated with IBK Industrial Bank. It minimizes the cost burden of SMEs, and supports the cost of registration and issuance of emission permits and administrative procedures based on professional capabilities and experience.

On the other hand, Southeast Power has achieved a drastic energy conversion such as biofuel conversion (Yeongdong Units 1 and 2) and rapid expansion of new and renewable energy despite the high proportion of coal-fired power, opening the country’s first 1GW era of renewable energy last year. In July, at a press conference at the National Assembly, it was the first Korean company to declare the goal of ‘2050 KOEN carbon neutral’, playing a leading role in achieving ‘2050 Korea carbon neutrality’.

Gwang-seong Chung, head of the Southeast Power Technology and Safety Headquarters, said, “With this agreement, we will revitalize SMEs suffering from COVID-19 and lead the conversion of eco-friendly fuels to SMEs that are not obligated to reduce GHG emissions, as well as power generation companies. I will do my best.”
