South Africa suffers from’mutant virus’, more than 1 million cumulative confirmed cases

Amid the recent rapid spread of the Corona 19 variant virus in South Africa, the cumulative number of confirmed cases yesterday (27th) exceeded 1 million in local time, the AP and Reuters reported.

The South African Ministry of Health announced that there were 1,4,413 cumulative corona19 confirmed cases, of which 26,735 were killed.

The rate of increase in confirmed cases has also increased.

The cumulative confirmed cases of Corona 19 in South Africa reached 800,000 on 3 days, and then reached 900,000 in 15 days, and increased by 100,000 in 9 days to 1 million.

Hospitals and medical centers have reached saturation.

‘Medi Clinic International’, South Africa’s three largest private hospitals, said it was lacking in all of its medical staff, equipment, and hospital beds.

South Africa is the 18th largest coronavirus case in the world after the United States, India, Brazil, Russia, France, United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Germany, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Iran, Ukraine and Peru. It has become a country that exceeds the number of people.

South Africa is the only country in Africa with more than 1 million cumulative confirmed cases.

In South Africa, ‘501.V2’, a corona 19 mutant virus discovered on the 18th, is spreading rapidly.

501.V2 has been spreading mainly in southeastern South Africa since October, and is known to have stronger spreading power than existing viruses.

“The virus is spreading in states such as Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal,” said Dr. Richard Russells, who studies mutant viruses.
