Tottenham’s Son Heung-min (29), who is flying around the English Premier League stage, won the’International Player of the Year’ award by the Asian Football Federation (AFC).

AFC announced on the 24th (KST) website that “the Korean national team and Tottenham’s superstar Son Heung-min have been selected as the best international player of 2020.” Son Heung-min previously received this award in 2015, 2017 and 2019. It is the second consecutive year and the fourth in his career.

The Best International Player is an award given to the most outstanding players in the professional leagues outside of AFC member countries. In 2020, he evaluated his performance in his national team and his club, and Son Heung-min received the highest support.

While the’AFC Awards’, which gave awards to Asian footballers who shined each year, were not held in the aftermath of a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), AFC held the’Asia’s Choice-2020 Fan Awards’ instead.

In addition, the winners were screened by mixing fan (60%) and expert (40%) votes, and Son Heung-min ranked first with 25.03 points. Second place was Iran’s Medi Taremi, who played for FC Porto, with 19.34 points. Third place was Iraqi fullback Ali Adnan (Vancouver Whitecaps) who scored 18.14 points.

AFC said, “Son Heung-min, who won the International Player of the Year Award 3 times, is showing a unique breath with Harry Kane in Tottenham.” He was selected as the EPL Player of the Month in October 2020, and evaluated an A match against Mexico-Qatar in November I went out before,” he introduced.

He said, “We received the 2019-20 Player of the Year award and KFA 2020 Player of the Year award by Tottenham, and became the second Asian player to receive the FIFA Puskas Award.”

Meanwhile, Valencia’s Kang-in Lee ranked 7th with 0.74 points.
