In order to expand the supply of new and renewable energy as a countermeasure against the climate crisis, the’Solar Power Citizen Exploration Team’ in Seoul, which plays a role of excavating solar power sites in various places in daily life, has started full-scale activities this year. The solar-powered citizen exploration team, which was created as a green new deal last year, selected 30 people for the second phase of this year and began exploring and discovering sites that can generate solar power from today on the 8th.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government explained that the expedition also played a role in informing citizens of the need for solar power, the optimal renewable energy source in the city, through the process of discovering solar power sites. The aim is to increase citizens’ consensus and residents’ acceptance of the environmental and economic value of solar power generation.

Following last year, the expedition is planning to further strengthen its business capabilities this year to excavate the site, and to promptly proceed with the subsequent procedures to lead to the installation of practical solar power generation facilities. In particular, from this year, the discovery of solar power sites is expected to gain more momentum through cooperation with energy planners who conduct energy consulting for small and medium-sized buildings such as schools and welfare facilities.

The exploration team goes directly to the site, such as on the roof of a building or in a parking lot, to investigate whether or not solar power can be installed, and through interviews with managers or owners, they perform various tasks such as installation necessity, installation support system, savings and installation procedure consultation and guidance. This year’s expedition runs from March to December.

The targets of excavation are the entire facilities of Seoul, including private facilities such as houses, shopping centers, parking lots, and traditional markets, and public facilities such as buildings and infrastructure.

Previously, from July to December of last year, members of the first expedition team discovered 131 sites where solar power could be installed, such as apartment houses, commercial buildings, traditional markets, and public infrastructure through field surveys of 2,500 private and public areas. . The excavated site will be promoted to install solar power this year through various business methods.

In addition, based on various job performances and field experiences, 6 out of 30 solar-powered citizen exploration crew members in 2020 succeeded in finding employment as a civilian job.

This year, the city of Seoul is planning to promote solar power installation quickly by intensively promoting the rental business and financing system to ease the installation burden of owners. If the owner wants to install solar power, it will immediately dispatch a specialized company that he wants to install and provide installation information such as an estimate, so that the installation can be performed on a track record.

If you want to visit the’Solar Power Citizen’s Expedition’ for the solar installation site, Seoul Green Energy Division (2133-3951), Mini Solar Center (070-8858-6041~58) or Sunlight Map website (http://solarmap. You can apply online at seoul.go.kr).

“The importance of the Green New Deal, which is linked to environmental response, job creation, and economic revitalization, is growing even more in the context of the prolonged Corona 19.” We ask for your interest and participation in the installation of power generation facilities in the solar power civil expedition.”

Citizens said that they hoped that solar power citizen expeditions could find solar power sites and install photovoltaic power, thereby generating a lot of solar energy so that they would be well used for necessary areas.
