SME online exhibition hall opened at CES 2021… Non-face-to-face export support

186 companies participated in Korea Pavilion and Case Startup Pavilion

An online PR hall for domestic small and medium-sized businesses and start-ups will be set up at’CES 2021′, the world’s largest electronic and information communication (IT) exhibition, which will open on the 11th (US local time).

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 10th that the online’Korea Pavilion’ (www.ces2021korea.com) and the’K-Startup Pavilion’ (kstartupces2021.com) will be opened for four days on the 11th to 14th of the CES exhibition.

This year’s CES will be held entirely online for the first time in 55 years since its opening in 1967 in the aftermath of Corona 19. In Korea, 340 companies and institutions, which are the second largest in the world after the United States (570), will participate. In addition to the electronics industry, other industries such as Amorepacific and GS Caltex are also participating in seeking to enter new markets through technology convergence. These conglomerates will organize their own online exhibition halls to promote their products and technologies.

For small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups with low technological prowess, the government provided support. The Ministry of Industry opened the “Korea Pavilion,” and the SMEs opened the “K-Startup Pavilion,” respectively, to intensively support non-face-to-face export marketing.

A total of 89 small and medium-sized technology innovation companies in Korea will participate in the Korean Pavilion, including 3 companies that have won the CES Innovation Award, focusing on 8 topics such as product design and manufacturing, and wearables. These companies support the creation of digital contents such as individual online exhibition halls and promotional videos. In the Korean Pavilion, real-time non-face-to-face purchase consultations such as overseas buyers will be provided.

97 domestic start-up companies including 24 companies in the health and wellness sector, 24 5G and Internet of Things, and 15 robots and artificial intelligence will participate in the K-Startup Hall. These companies open individual online booths to post digital contents such as company introductions and videos. Each company’s digital booth is scheduled to be operated for about a month after the closing.

The government plans to support export marketing for participating companies, from pre-promotion of exhibited items to video consultation after closing through KOTRA Worldwide Trade Centers. An official from the Ministry of Industry said, “We will actively support Korean companies’ global advancement by supporting matching with overseas buyers so that our exports can continue to recover momentum.”
