Starting today, the support fund (third disaster support fund) will be paid to 2.76 million small businesses affected by the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it will sequentially send application guidance letters to 2.76 million people who are eligible for the primary support fund starting from 8 am on the 11th. Small business owners who complete the application in the morning will receive the support fund as soon as possible in the afternoon of the day.

The small business owner who receives the text message can apply for the support fund without supporting documents through identification, etc. on the support fund website. If you have received a new desired fund (second disaster support fund) last time, it is easy to apply through the existing input information. If you have not received the text message, you can directly access the homepage to check whether you are eligible for primary application and apply.

However, for smooth application, you can apply online with odd numbers for 11 days and even numbers for 12 days based on the last digit of your business registration number. From the 13th, you can apply without distinction between odd and even numbers.

Specific payment targets are 116,000 people for group bans, 762,000 people for business restrictions, and 1.881,000 people for general industries. Among the companies that are prohibited from gathering and restricted business, restaurants and cafes are the largest with 630,000, followed by 80,000 beauty and beauty facilities, 75,000 academies and classrooms, and 45,000 indoor sports facilities.

Among those eligible, small business owners who have been banned from collective or business restrictions due to strengthened quarantine measures by the government and local governments since November 24 last year can receive 3 million won and 2 million won, respectively. Even if a group ban or business restrictions are enforced due to additional quarantine measures by local governments, payments are also eligible.

There are 11 types of businesses that are prohibited from gathering: 5 entertainment establishments (entertainment bars, etc.), academy, indoor sports facilities, singing practice, direct sales promotion hall, standing performance hall, ski resort, and sledding. There are 11 types of group-restricted businesses including restaurants, cafes, beauty salons, PC cafes, game rooms, multi-rooms, study cafes, movie theaters, amusement parks, hypermarkets and department stores, and lodging.

Even small business owners with less than 400 million won in sales, which have decreased from their sales in 2019, can receive 1 million won.

Outdoor winter sports facilities, including ski resorts, and facilities subject to special quarantine during the year-end and New Year holidays, such as its subsidiaries and lodging facilities, can be received after the 25th.

On the other hand, businesses excluding small business policy financing such as speculative business, real estate leasing, and professional occupations cannot receive supporting funds.

An official from the Ministry of SMEs said, “If you are unable to apply online, you can call the support fund call center (1522-3500) or get help from the nearest Small Business Market Promotion Center.” He added, “Be careful not to be fooled by the texts pretending to be government support because there is no direct link to other websites in the support texts, and we never ask for a resident registration number, account password, or OTP number.”
