SK Telecom submitted a report to the Ministry of Science and ICT to launch a new 5G plan.
After the communication rate authorization system was abolished and the reservation notification system was introduced, the administrative procedure for the first rate release began, drawing attention.
On the 29th, SK Telecom announced that “a new rate plan release report was submitted to the Ministry of Science and ICT to improve customer value, such as easing customer charge and expanding rate plan options.”
He added, “Since it is the first reporting rate system since the implementation of the reservation system, we expect to intensify the rate competition between operators in the future.”
The plan that SK Telecom is planning to launch is an online-only plan, which is characterized by a lower monthly fee than existing products.
There were many prospects of releasing a related rate plan according to the market demand for 5G mid-to-low price plans, but after the introduction of the reservation report system, SK Telecom reported the terms and conditions to the government to release a new rate plan, drawing attention to future procedures.
With the introduction of the reservation notification system, market dominant operators in the telecommunications market can launch a new rate system only by reporting, instead of obtaining approval of the past rate terms and conditions. SK Telecom is the dominant wireless communication operator, and KT is the dominant fixed-line communication service provider.

However, even if a new agreement is reported to the government, there are conditions that the government can reject. An official from SK Telecom said, “At the last government audit, there was a request from the National Assembly for the launch of an online plan that could reduce excessive marketing costs, which could lead to alleviation of customer charge. I look forward to the review.”
