[한스경제=이정인 기자] SK Wyverns signed and traded veteran bullpen pitcher Kim Sang-soo, who was formerly the Hold King.
SK announced on the 13th that “Kim Sang-soo (33) was recruited on the condition of handing over 300 million won in cash with Kiwoom Heroes and the nomination right for the 2nd round 4 in 2022. Kim Sang-soo is scheduled to join the field training held in Seogwipo, Jeju Island from February 1.
SK made this trade to strengthen the bullpen and build a victory team. SK team explained, “We have recruited Kim Sang-soo because of the high endurance of over 50 innings in 50 games over the past five years and 8.69 strikeouts per 9 innings in total.”
Kim Sang-soo, who made his debut at the Samsung Lions in the second round in 2006, moved to Nexen Heroes in 2010 and grew into a bullpen player for the team. In the 2019 season, he recorded 40 holds and won the K-hold king. He has played 456 games in his career and is recording an average ERA of 5.08 with 21 wins and 97 holds and 38 saves.
Kim Sang-soo, who transferred to SK, said, “Thanks to giving me so many opportunities in raising, I think I am who I am. We sincerely thank the Heroes officials and fans who have given us a lot of interest and love over the past 11 years. We will do our best to contribute to achieving good results this season by making the most of the experience we have accumulated so far.”
SK General Manager Ryu Sun-gyu said, “Last year’s bullpen average ERA was the lowest in the league, so we decided that it needed to be reinforced. Initially, the focus was on maximizing internal capabilities, but it was diagnosed that there were not many variables for bullpen pitchers this season, so I became interested in recruiting outsiders. With the recruitment of Kim Sang-soo this season, the calculation of the bullpen will be able to stand. As a bullpen pitcher, I was attracted to the steadfastness of 50 innings in 50 games for 5 consecutive years. In addition, we decided that the experience of claiming for the last two years will serve as a model for young pitchers.”
