The securities industry evaluated that SK Innovation’s electric vehicle battery growth potential will increase in a report related to ‘2020 SK Innovation 4Q Business Results’ released on January 29. It is expected that the production capacity will increase to 125GWh by 2025, with large orders and new investments in the third electric vehicle battery plant in Hungary.
In particular, the industry judged that the US and EU (European Union) policies to prioritize domestic products would be positive for SK Innovation’s battery business. The reason is that SK Innovation is building new factories in Georgia and Hungary.
Next, we raised our target price sharply, forecasting that both sales and operating profit of SK Innovation will turn to profit in 2021. It is estimated that EV battery sales will increase by up to 124%.
Han Sang-won, a researcher at Daishin Securities, said, “We are raising SK Innovation’s electric vehicle battery business value from KRW 8 trillion to KRW 26 trillion.”
