SK energy dreams of’charging renewable power at gas stations and charging electric vehicles’

Signed a business agreement with Seoul Metropolitan Government to expand solar power generation and electric vehicle charging facilities

2050 Seoul City and the oil industry first meet to expand carbon-neutral and eco-friendly vehicles

In the first half of this year, solar power generation was built in 7 directly managed locations and expanded to self-managed gas stations.

The possibility of advancing into the decentralized fuel cell power generation business was also explored, and regulatory improvement was suggested.

[지앤이타임즈]The SK Energy affiliated gas station and LPG charging station located in Seoul will be used as a solar power generation base.

It is also seeking a business that directly charges electric vehicles with electricity generated from renewable energy at gas stations.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and SK Energy announced that they will join forces to expand the supply of new and renewable energy and build an eco-friendly vehicle infrastructure to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050.

As part of this, on the 20th, Seoul Water Purification Headquarters and Climate Environment Headquarters Oh Jong-hoon of SK Energy, P&M CIC CEO, signed a business agreement and decided to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles by installing solar power generation facilities and electric vehicle charging facilities at SK Energy gas stations.

With this business agreement, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and SK Energy will promote collaboration to introduce related systems to all locations where solar power generation facilities and electric vehicle charging facilities can be installed among SK energy-affiliated gasoline and charging stations.

By discovering regulations that prevent the supply of eco-friendly energy, such as supplying eco-friendly vehicle charging infrastructure to gas stations and charging stations, and installing fuel cells, the government will propose improvements to the system and seek demonstration projects through regulatory sandboxes.

As part of this, SK Energy completed the construction of 144kW solar power generation facilities in 7 directly managed locations in the first half of this year, and it was confirmed that the license was already completed in December of last year.

SK Energy is promoting the development of an integrated management agency system at the level of SK Energy to encourage 147 self-employed businesses to participate in the construction of solar power generation facilities.

It is also seeking to build a facility that charges electric vehicles with electricity generated by renewable energy such as solar power at gas stations.

SK Energy’s gasoline and charging stations in the Seoul area currently have four electric vehicle chargers installed. The strategy is to increase the number of them and to charge electric vehicles with renewable power through future institutional improvements.

However, it is a plan to request the central government to improve regulations in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, as the same operator cannot simultaneously implement the renewable power generation project and the electric vehicle charging business under the current related regulations.

It also decided to explore the possibility of entering the distributed fuel cell power generation business.

SK Energy announced that it would propose improvements in regulations related to the distributed fuel cell power generation business near demand sites, select suitable sites for fuel cell installation in terms of technology and safety, and review business feasibility.

In addition, various mutual cooperation is promoted, including support for the commercialization of new products through the Seoul solar power demonstration complex, and support for technology development of eco-friendly vehicles and charging facilities suitable for Seoul. Plan.

This agreement is evaluated to be meaningful in that it is the first cooperation model between the Seoul city and the oil refining industry for energy conversion and the supply of eco-friendly vehicles in large cities.

In particular, the possibility of discovering additional public-private partnership models is increasing as Seoul plans to strengthen various cooperations in various fields with SK Energy for the successful establishment of the eco-friendly energy conversion model and the development of sustainable low-carbon eco-friendly business.

Regarding this, Seoul Water Purification Head of Climate Environment Headquarters said, “SK Energy, which has gas stations and charging stations, and the city of Seoul cooperate to create a new and renewable energy supply base. It is expected that there will be great progress in the spread of infrastructure installation.”

SK Energy CEO Jong-Hoon Oh, P&M CIC, said, “Through this agreement, SK Energy has realized a platform business that provides integrated solutions in the energy field that can lead the future mobility era by integrating the oil business with AI and DT technologies. We will accelerate the ESG management of companies.”
