Kim Si-woo (26, CJ Logistics) started with a tie for 22nd on the first day of the US Professional Golf (PGA) Tour AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am ($7.8 million in prize money).

In the first round of the tournament held at Pebble Beach Golf Links (par 72, 7051 yards) in Pebble Beach, California, USA on the 12th (Korean time), Kim Si-Woo tied 5 birdies and 1 bogie to write a 4 under par 68 stroke.

Kim Si-woo was tied for 22nd place, six shots behind lead Patrick Cantley (62 shots under 10 under the US).

The players who participated in this event will compete on two courses: Round 1 and 2 Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill (par 72, 7041 yards). The players who pass the cut compete for the final championship at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

Kim Si-woo was in good shape at the beginning. In the first hole (par 4) and the second hole (par 5), he caught birdies one after another and showed a pleasant start.

In the 5th hole (par 3), the tee shot fell into the bunker, causing a bogus, but the successive birdies continued on the 6th hole (par 5) and 7th hole (par 3).

However, he did not cut a lot of at-bats in the second round. He added a birdie on the 13th hole (par 4), but ended the round with only 5 consecutive pars.

Cantley, who competed with Kim Si-Woo in the last American Express competition, was at the top of the leaderboard with a perfect play that caught only 10 birdies without looking. Cantley had the opportunity to add a win in four months after the Jojo Championship in October 2020.

Jordan Spice (USA), whose performance has recently been reviving, was also ranked at the top. Spice raised expectations by tied for fourth with a 7-under-par 65.

Except for Kim Si-woo, Korean players struggled on the first day. ‘Oldest brother’ Choi Gyeong-ju (51, SK Telecom) is tied for 75th with an even par 72, and Kang Seung-hoon (34, CJ Logistics) and Noh Seung-yeol (31, Isu Group) tied for 97th with 1 over par 73.

Bae Sang-moon (35, Kiwoom Securities), who had a chance to participate after pardoning Ireland’s Padrig Harrington with a positive response to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), was tied for 118th with a 2-over par with 74 shots.
