Cocaine worth 100 billion won, which can be administered by one million people at the same time, was detected from a foreign container ship entering the Busan New Port.

According to the Namhae Regional Maritime Police Agency on the 7th, on January 19th, an African Liberian nationality 140,000-ton container ship, which arrived at Busan New Port, caught 35kg of cocaine worth 105 billion won and seized it. 35kg can be administered by 1 million people at the same time. Cocaine is known as the three major drugs along with methamphetamine and heroin.

The cocaine found in the boarding room (ship direction control room) was divided into 35 boxes of 1 kg each. The box was wrapped with paper with a scorpion pattern used by Colombian drug organizations.

The Coast Guard has been tracing the route of the ship with the shipping company, receiving reports that a large amount of cocaine was hidden in the boarding room. This ship is a regular ship that departs Colombia on December 15 last year and goes to China via the Panama Canal and Korea.

Investigations are conducted by analyzing fingerprints and DNA of Greek, Russian, and Uri Kraina sailors who were on this ship, and are tracking whether they participated and the distribution channels of drugs.

Earlier, in Busan, 63.88 kg of cocaine, equivalent to a market price of 190 billion won, was detected in a container attempting to unload at the North Port of Busan and move to the Busan New Port in November 2018. The cocaine found at the time was the largest ever detected in transshipment cargoes since the opening of Busan Port, and it was the amount that 2 million people could simultaneously administer.
