Samsung Heavy Industries is receiving orders for liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to domestic shipbuilders(6,980 -0.85%)This additional 4 vessels were ordered. The outlook for additional orders is also bright.

On the 23rd, Samsung Heavy Industries announced that it has won orders for four LNG carriers worth 815 billion won from shipowners in Africa. These ships are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by May 2024.

With this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has won orders for a total of 8 LNG carriers (1.63 trillion won) for three days from the 21st. This year’s cumulative order performance reached $5.5 billion, achieving 65% of the annual order target ($84 billion).

Samsung Heavy Industries raised its order backlog from $18.6 billion at the end of August this year to $22.2 billion due to the recent successive LNG carrier orders. Of the total order backlog, LNG carriers amount to $10.4 billion, nearly half.
