[쿠키뉴스] Reporter Moon Dae-chan = Shinsegae has become the new partner of the KBO League.

KBO announced on the 5th that, “At the general meeting of owners held in writing, they unanimously approved the transfer of membership of Shinsegae Electros (tentative name).” The subscription fee was set at 6 billion won.

On January 26th, Shinsegae Group announced that it would be promoting new KBO membership by acquiring the SK Wyverns professional baseball team. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to the acquisition of the club, and on February 23, they signed a main contract to sell and take over all the shares of the club.

Shinsegae submitted an application to join KBO on February 22, the day before the signing of the main contract.

Accordingly, KBO held the board of directors on the 2nd to deliberate on the application for approval of SK and Shinsegae’s transfer of membership, and reviewed Shinsegae’s club operation plan and presented it to the general meeting.

On that day, the board of directors deliberated on the subscription fee in accordance with Article 9 of the KBO Rules. The board decided on a membership fee of 6 billion won after reviewing the past cases and comparing it, changing the club value, expanding the league and changing the number of spectators.

Shinsegae took over the SK club with a cost of 135.58 billion won, including land and buildings. Common stock is 100 billion won and land and buildings are 32.8 billion won. It was the highest acquisition amount ever for a baseball team. With the addition of 6 billion won in subscription fee, the acquisition cost of Shinsegae’s baseball team totaled 141.2 billion and 80 million won.

SK, which transferred the club to Shinsegae, promised to donate 2.5 billion won in the hopes of contributing to the development of Korean baseball. SK is the first in the history of the KBO League to make a donation by transferring the club.

Meanwhile, it is known that the new club name is highly likely to be announced on the 5th, when the deal closing between SK Telecom and Shinsegae will take place.
