On the 30th, an employee working at the Shinsegae Department Store’s main store Chanel was confirmed to have a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19). Shinsegae Department Store stopped operating the Chanel store and started quarantine measures, but it is being criticized for responding to ease by operating the department store business normally, including other stores on the same floor.
According to the industry, an employee of a Chanel store in the headquarters of Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul, tested positive for Corona 19 on the day. The employee was reported to have been to the store until the 28th, and since then, due to a health problem, he has not come to work from the day before.
Chanel opened the business as usual at 10:30 am that day, but immediately stopped operating the store after receiving the news of the confirmation from the employee.
An official from Chanel said, “Some customers entered, but the corona19 confirmed employee did not go to the store today (30th). As soon as the employee contacted us with infection, we conducted quarantine and disinfection of the store.” Chanel decided to do a full-fledged inspection of any Chanel store employees who might be in contact.
The Shinsegae Department Store main store was operated normally on the same day, despite the news of the coronavirus confirmed by the store employee. Chanel is located on the first and second floors of the main building of Shinsegae Department Store.
When the news was announced, the social network service (SNS) said, “Isn’t it necessary to close the store until the results of the inspection of the Chanel store employees are released?” Points were raised.
In response, Shinsegae Department Store explained that “a specialized service company is doing quarantine every day.”
