‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods was seriously injured on both legs in a car rollover accident on the 23rd (local time).

Police and fire departments in Los Angeles, California, USA, said at a briefing, the Associated Press reported.

County Fire Commissioner Daryl Osby said both of Woods’ legs were severely injured, and that there was no harm to life, but that the leg was a compound fracture.

Deputy Director Carlos Gonzalez County Sheriff’s Office said Woods was unable to stand on his own at the time of the accident.

Deputy Director Gonzalez said, “When asked for his name, Woods said’Tiger’. He was conscious and calm.”

Police say they used tools such as an ax and chisel instead of the originally known vehicle cutter to rescue Woods through the windshield.

Police said there was no evidence that Woods was driving a car with a driving disorder as to the cause of the accident.

County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Woods found no signs of being affected by drugs or smelling alcohol.

However, police presumed that Woods was speeding at the time of the accident.

Sheriff Villanueva said there was no sign of a sudden braking of the vehicle, “it seems to be running relatively faster than normal speed.”

At the site of the accident, no’skid mark’ was found, which is the mark of a burnt language that occurs during sudden braking.

The road where the accident occurred is a steep downhill section of a four-lane round-trip road.

Police estimated Woods had an accident while driving north.

The speed limit here is 45 miles per hour (72 km).

Sheriff Villanueva said, “The road with the accident is a curved section on the downhill road,” and “This road is a place with high accident frequency.”

The car that Woods drove was Hyundai Motor Company’s 2021 sports utility vehicle (SUV)’Genesis GV80′, which was overturned after crashing into the central division at the time of the accident.

According to the police, the Genesis that Woods was driving was rolled over the median multiple times, hitting the curb and trees in the opposite lane, and stopped on a slope about 9 meters from the road.

Sheriff Villanueva said the airbags were activated and the car body inside the car was barely damaged. Woods was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

“The front and bumpers of the vehicle were completely destroyed. But the interior of the vehicle was almost intact, which served as a cushion for Woods to survive,” he said. “Otherwise, it would have been a fatal accident.”
