According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 7th, cold wave warnings and heavy snow warnings are in effect in the mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and strong wind warnings and heavy snow warnings are in effect throughout Jeju Island, excluding the mountainous areas.

The Meteorological Administration said that as of 2 pm, snow has been falling and accumulating about 1 cm per hour between the mountains and the middle mountains, and there are places where snow is accumulating on the coast.

From the day before to 2:00 pm on the day, the deepest snowfall per point (the highest amount of snowfall observed on that day) was 20.6 cm in Eorimok in Hallasan, 11.7 cm in Sancheondan, 6.4 cm in Seongsan, 4.4 cm in Yusuam, 4.5 cm in Pyoseon, and 2.2 cm in Jeju Airport.

In the case of Hallasan Azalea Field and Witsaeoreum, the exact amount of snowfall has not been identified as the current weather conditions deteriorate.

Hallasan climbing trail was completely controlled from this morning.

As a lot of snow fell and piled up, as of 2 p.m. on this day, the 1100 Road and 516 Road, the 1st Sanrok Road, and Cheomjeong Road, which are mountain roads connecting Jeju City and Seogwipo City, are in a state of being inaccessible.

However, route buses running on 516 Road and Komjeong-ro are operated with winter equipment.

Namjo-ro, Bijarim-ro, and Seoseong-ro can be operated only by winding chains, both large and small.

All sections of Beonyeong-ro, Hanchang-ro, No. 2, Myeongnim-ro, and Aejo-ro must be equipped with wintering equipment for small vehicles.

Of the 170 flights scheduled to operate on this day (85 departures and 85 arrivals), only one Jin Air destined for Gimpo has operated until 2 pm.

A storm warning was issued on the sea, and all 15 passenger ships on nine routes connecting Jeju and other regions were also controlled.

Accidents are also occurring in various places as snow has piled up all over Jeju, and roads are frozen, and even a strong blizzard is hitting the front.

On that morning, a bus running on a road in Ildo 1-dong, Jeju City, slipped on an ice road and hit a streetlight. In this accident, a streetlight fell to the sidewalk, creating a dizzying scene.

Also, at 10:12 am on the same day, a 65-year-old woman walking in front of a shopping street in Seogwi-dong, Seogwipo-si, slipped in the snow, hurt her shoulder, and is transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Jeju-do has ordered emergency service for public officials and continues to carry out snow removal work.
