According to the Meteorological Administration, the lowest temperature in Seoul on this day was -19.2 degrees on January 5, 1986, the next lowest.

On January 15, 2001, the record was the same as -18.6 degrees, the second lowest ever.

Currently, cold weather warnings have been in effect in most regions of the country, and the central inland and northern Jeollabuk-do, and northern Gyeongbuk inland are -20 degrees or less; It is showing very cold weather.

The minimum temperatures at major locations are Paju -21.8 degrees, Incheon -17.5 degrees, Suwon -18.4 degrees, Cheorwon-21.9 degrees, Chuncheon -21.9 degrees, Daegwallyeong -24.3 degrees, Cheongju -16.3 degrees, Daejeon -17.5 degrees, Jeonju -16.5 degrees, Jeju -2.5 degrees.
