The Seoul Metropolitan Government agreed on the need for energy conversion with SK Energy to respond to the climate change crisis, and signed a business agreement to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles, such as installing solar power generation facilities and electric vehicle charging facilities at SK gas stations and charging stations. It was announced on the 20th that it had signed.

The ceremony was held with Soo-yong Jeong, head of the Seoul Climate Environment Headquarters and Jong-hoon Oh, CEO of SK Energy’s P&M CIC.

In accordance with this business agreement, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and SK Energy will first promote collaboration to install solar power generation facilities and electric vehicle charging facilities in all locations among SK gas and charging stations.

In particular, it is planning to propose to the government to improve regulations to prevent the supply of eco-friendly energy, such as supplying eco-friendly vehicle charging infrastructure to gas stations and LPG charging stations, and installing fuel cells, and to promote demonstration projects through regulatory sandboxes.

In addition, we plan to promote various mutual cooperation such as support for commercialization of new products through the Seoul solar power demonstration complex and support for technology development of eco-friendly vehicles and charging facilities suitable for Seoul. To this end, a working-level council between Seoul and SK Energy was formed to hold regular consultations. I plan to proceed.

This agreement is significant in that it is the first cooperation model between the Seoul city and the oil refining industry for energy conversion and eco-friendly vehicle supply in large cities.

The city of Seoul plans to strengthen cooperation in various fields with SK Energy for the successful establishment of this eco-friendly energy conversion model and the development of sustainable low-carbon eco-friendly business.

The city of Seoul declared ‘2050 carbon neutral’ in July 20th, and announced that it will actively promote the supply of new and renewable energy and eco-friendly vehicles.

It is expected that there will be great progress in supplying new and renewable energy and installing charging infrastructure for eco-friendly vehicles.”

Jong-Hoon Oh, CEO of SK Energy’s P&M CIC, said, “This is a public-private partnership model voluntarily promoted by local governments and companies for carbon-neutral and eco-friendly growth between Seoul, which has energy-related policies, and SK Energy, which has infrastructure. It will become the Green New Deal standard.” “Through this agreement, SK Energy has realized a platform business that provides integrated solutions in the energy field that can lead the future mobility era by converging oil business and AI/DT technology. “We will accelerate ESG management of eco-friendly companies.”
