The city of Seoul said it is proceeding with a lawsuit for compensation for damages against three religious facilities where the COVID-19 group infection occurred.

Today (18th), the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced at a regular briefing that “three lawsuits are in progress, including Shincheonji Church, Sarangjeil Church, and Seongseok Church.”

First, I charged 200 million won to Shincheonji Church.

The reason is that during the’Shincheonji Incident’ in March of last year, Shincheonji interfered with the quarantine work, such as submitting a list of members late.

It seems that the lawsuit was set at 200 million won to receive a dividend from the settlement committee.

This is because if the amount of civil lawsuit exceeds 200 million won, the case can be taken at the settlement department where three judges hear.

Seoul Metropolitan Government Legal Support Officer Bae Young-geun said, “The amount requested will be increased by confirming the details of damages later.”

The Shincheonji lawsuit is due to a criminal case.

Since the judgment of the first trial came out, it is expected that a trial date will be set soon.

The city of Seoul filed a lawsuit for damages of 4.6 billion won against Sarangjeil Church.

In September of last year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government filed a lawsuit claiming that the damage was caused by the spread of Corona 19 from Sarangjeil Church.

Officer Bae said, “Recently, a response letter has been served by the church and the city is preparing a preparatory document to counter it.”

The Seoul Transportation Corporation has also filed a lawsuit against Sarangjeil Church.

Gangseo-gu Seongseok Church, which has 245 confirmed patients through dozens of face-to-face worship services, is also subject to lawsuits.

I charged 200 million won.

Sungseok Church will also determine the amount of the claim according to the details of compensation for damage in the future.

However, the invoice has not been served on the church or pastor due to the’absence of payee’.

The city is working on correcting addresses so that the court can proceed.
