‘Seoul City Hall trespass’ fined 4 million won to the Chosun Ilbo reporter

The Chosun Ilbo reporter, who secretly photographed documents by trespassing in the Seoul City Hall office in July last year, was sentenced to a fine of 4 million won at the first trial on the 18th.

On the 21st of last month, the prosecution sought six months in prison in a trial for the Chosun Ilbo reporter’s intrusion of buildings, held at the hearing of Judge Jeong Jong-gun solely by the Seoul Central District Court.

The prosecution said, “Legal coverage of public institutions should be protected. However, it is necessary to establish an order of coverage by strictly taking responsibility for illegal coverage.”

According to Yonhap News, Judge Chung said on the 18th that “they were for the purpose of coverage, and the target was the office of a public institution, but we cannot allow any coverage that infringes on the legal interests of others.”

In July of last year, a reporter was caught by an employee of the city hall while infiltrating the office of the Head of Women and Family Policy on the 9th floor of Seoul City Hall in connection with the suspicion of sexual harassment by the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon. A reporter said, “I admit all the crimes. “I am deeply regretful,” and “I have crossed the line that should not be crossed because of my greed.”

Immediately after the incident, the reporters entering the city decided to dismiss the reporters, which is a severe disciplinary action against the reporter A. The expulsion of the journalists is a serious discipline in which access registration is canceled not only by journalists but also by their media. You cannot work as a reporter for entering Seoul for one year, and you will have to go through the new registration process like a non-entry company. Reporter A, who was a member of the Chosun Ilbo Department of Social Affairs, was ordered by the International Ministry after this incident.

He tried to ask the reporter whether to appeal or not, but he did not receive a call from the media today.
