Cable channel tvN’Seol Min-suk’s Naked World History’ sustained the audience rating of 5% even after the’historical distortion’ controversy.
According to the audience rating research company Nielsen Korea on the 27th, the nationwide audience rating for the third episode of’Seol Min-seok’s Naked World History’ broadcast at 10:40 pm the previous day recorded 5.5%. On the 19th, the viewership rating dropped by 0.4% from 5.9% on the second day, but it was 0.3% higher than the 5.2% on the 12th.
On the broadcast that day, Seol Min-seok gave lectures on the Nanjing Massacre and the 731 units of Japan.
Earlier, the controversy over the history distortion of’Seol Min-seok’s naked world history’ began when archaeologist Kwak Min-soo, head of the Korean Institute of Egyptology, publicly sniped the Egyptian side of the program on social media on the 20th.
Director Kwak pointed out on the broadcast on the 19th that “the fact is that there are so many wrong things that it is difficult to mention one by one.”
The production crew admitted that there were some errors as they edited according to the broadcast time, apologized and promised to prevent recurrence. Seol Min-seok also apologized to his YouTube channel on the 22nd, saying, “Because it’s a program that puts my name on it, I think all the mistakes are with me. It’s because I’m lacking and lacking.”
However, Seol Min-seok was also caught up in the recent’controversy over distortion of music history’. On his YouTube channel, he claimed that “jazz was born after losing his original intentions is R&B (Rhythm & Blues)”, and was criticized by music experts for “dissemination of false facts”.
Seol Min-seok has yet to come up with a position on this. The public acknowledges Seol Min-seok’s expertise in teaching in his specialized fields, such as Korean Studies, but is voicing that he should be cautious when approaching other specialties.
