Recently, suspicion of plagiarism of his master’s thesis was raised against Seol Min-seok, who caused distorted controversy in a history lecture broadcast in his name.

On the 29th, the online media dispatch said that the plagiarism rate was 52% as a result of obtaining Seol’s master’s thesis in 2010 Yonsei University Graduate School of Education and verifying it with the thesis plagiarism inspection software copy killer.

According to the media, Seol’s thesis consists of 747 sentences. Among them, 187 sentences with 100% plagiarism rate and 332 suspected plagiarism were identified. In addition, the software suggested the number of papers that Seol suspected of plagiarizing about 40.

In particular, it was judged that the conclusion part of Seol’s thesis’Chapter 5 Conclusions and Suggestions’ and the conclusion part of the 2007 Sogang University Graduate School of Education’s master’s thesis were 100% consistent. It is argued that the conclusion, which is equivalent to one A4 paper, was the same as the previous thesis of a graduate student.

Seol majored in theater and film chemistry at Dankook University, and received a master’s degree in 2010 at Yonsei University Graduate School of Education with his thesis 〈A Study on Ideology Controversy in Korean Modern and Contemporary History Textbook Narratives〉. Recently, tvN’Seol Min-seok’s Naked World History’ apologized for causing controversy over history distortion.

Copy killer is a popular thesis plagiarism screening program, and generally, the plagiarism rate of less than 20% is required by the university field. Singer Hong Jin-young also recently found that the thesis plagiarism rate was 74% in the copy killer test. Chosun University canceled Hong’s degree.
