[SEN] Electric car parts stocks strong on the Ionic 5 box office

[서울경제TV=정새미 기자] [앵커] Hyundai Motor (005380)The group’s exclusive electric car Ioniq 5 is making a blast at home and abroad, and the stock price of parts makers is also shaking. From batteries, which are the core of electric vehicles, to parts suppliers such as headlamps and lighting, related stock prices are rising all at once. We look at the so-called’Ioniq 5 beneficiary’ with reporter Jeong Sae-mi of the Ministry of Economy and Trade.

[앵커] Reporter Jung, hello.

[기자] Yes hello.

[앵커] We have been delivering news related to IONIC 5 several times. It has been quite popular even before full-scale sales start. Electric vehicle stock prices are affecting the overall price?

[기자]

Yes, it is because Ionic 5, an electric car, continues to be a box office hit at home and abroad. After setting a new record on the first day of pre-contracting in Korea, pre-contracts were sold out in one day in Europe. As a result of obtaining a pre-contract with Ioniq 5 for 3,000 units in Europe, more than three times the volume of 10,000 people flocked. In the case of Europe, it is highly likely that it will lead to actual purchases as the contract was made in advance with a down payment of 1,000 euros and about 1.36 million won in our money. According to Hyundai Motor Company’s European subsidiary, 236,000 inquiries about vehicles have been reported since the release of Ioniq 5.

The Hyundai Motor Group has announced that this year will be the first year of the electric vehicle leap forward. Following the Ioniq 5, Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, the CV, will be unveiled for the first time in the world this month. In the second half of the year, the Genesis electric vehicle model project name’JW’ will be released. As dedicated electric vehicles have been announced one after another, it is analyzed that the share price related to electric vehicle parts will be upgraded to the next level.

[앵커] It is a story that electric cars will be released from all brands within the Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, and Genesis this year alone. Shall we look more specifically? Which states are the beneficiaries?

[기자]

The representative beneficiary is the subsidiary in charge of supplying parts to the Hyundai Motor Group. priority Hyundai Mobis (012330)I am most interested in Hyundai Mobis exclusively supplies battery systems, drive motors, and power control systems to Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles including Ioniq 5. Accordingly, it is predicted that the sales of Hyundai Mobis’ electrification division will increase from 5,953 billion won last year to 13,168 trillion won next year, reaching 21.66 trillion won by 2025.

Hyundai Industries, which supplies the armrests and headrests of the IONIQ 5, recorded an upper limit. Hyundai Industries is expected to generate 28 billion won in sales over the next six years from the order contract signed on the 26th of last month. Hyundai Industries surged 16.63% during this period from 8,660 won to 10,100 won on the 23rd when Ionic 5 was launched.

Hanon System (018880)Supplies thermal management systems to Hyundai Motor Group. We won orders for thermal management systems not only for Ioniq 5 but also for Ioniq 6 and 7 and Genesis electric vehicles. Along with this, Woori Industries, a secondary vendor of thermal management systems, is also attracting attention. Our industry supplies PTC heaters and core parts necessary for thermal management to Hanon Systems. Hanon Systems has increased by 4,57% since the launch of IONIC 5 to KRW 17,150 based on today’s closing price.

Also SL (005850)Is producing light-emitting diode (LED) lamps for IONIC 5. We are planning to supply lamps to Ionic 6 as well. Dong-A Hwasung produces battery pack gaskets for electric vehicles. JAHWA ELECTRONICS is expected to show related performance from next year after winning the order for the PTC heater for Ioniq 6. In addition, CoAsia, a supplier of lighting LEDs, also maintained an uptrend.

[앵커] It looks like the stock price of electric car parts makers is on the rise. Above all, battery companies, which are key components, will be in the spotlight. How is it?

[기자]

Rechargeable battery stocks also recently turned to an uptrend due to the strong outlook for the growth of the electric vehicle industry. Although negative factors such as battery lawsuits and electric vehicle fires remain, high growth in the battery business is expected. LG Chem (051910)Today’s closing price was 870,000 won, which was 2% more than the previous day, but it also exceeded 900,000 won during the day before.

Among them, Ioniq 5 is most affected by SK innovation (096770)is. This is because SK Innovation mainly supplies batteries to Ioniq 5. According to the industry, the share of SK Innovation in E-GMP batteries is estimated to be 56%. It is reported that the remaining 26% is supplied by LG Energy Solutions and 21% is supplied by CATL in China. In particular, SK Innovation’s share price is expected to accelerate rapidly as the initial supply is supplied to Ionic 5 and Kia’s CV.

‘K-Battery’ other than three people, battery pack supplier Sebang battery (004490)Also selected as a supplier of Hyundai Motor Company, the stock price soared. Last month, Sebang Batteries was selected as a manufacturer and manufacturer of battery packs for electric vehicles produced by Hyundai Motor Company. Hyundai Motor Company has been supplying battery modules and packs produced by HL Green Power, a joint venture between Hyundai Mobis and LG Energy Solutions, through Hyundai Mobis, but it seems that it has been selected as a partner by expanding the electric vehicle market.

The background of such a surge in stock prices is the nature of parts for electric vehicles. This is because EV batteries are up to 20 times higher in unit cost than internal combustion engines, and there is a high possibility that a company that supplies parts to Ionic 5 will also supply them to Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles in the future. Along with this, battery demand is growing rapidly, while suppliers are still limited, so battery margins are expected to be higher than expected.

[앵커] Yes, we looked at the beneficiaries of the release of Ionic 5 with reporter Jeong Sae-mi. thank you.
